Chateau Dereszla Tokaji Kabar 2022

The sixth officially approved grape variety of Tokaj, Kabar was created in the 1970s by crossing Hárslevelű and Bouvier. Our winery has been producing it since 2004 (initially under the technical number T10), in limited quantities of a few thousand bottles per year. With a relatively low yield, it ripens early, produces high sugar levels and is susceptible to botrytis. This is a 100% Kabar wine. The grapes were hand-picked and carefully selected, the healthy (not shrivelled or botrytised) berries were transported to the processing plant in small 25kg crates and then pressed with a pneumatic press. The wine was fermented in new oak barrels and then aged on the lees for 6 months with batonnage. The typical linden flower aromas are complemented by the vanilla flavour imparted by the barrel.
